The Warmth of Beginnings
My first professional endeavor began at a company called АПМ-6. It was in Siberia. 2008. At the time, I was still working on my final university project while holding a full-time role. It was an exciting period when I first tried myself in multiple roles — as a Structural Engineer, Designer, Modeler, and even an Architect.
I remember the owner of the company asked me if I could bring examples of my works to show my drafting skills. I was lucky enough to get this role as I had a big portfolio of works back then which I drew during my Art School. One of the works is presented on the picture.
It was a tiny company of about 20 professionals working together on the whole spectrum of design starting from concept to detailed stage. I gained valuable experience of how to communicate with different people, how to respect ideas, how to listen. Apart from that I gained knowledge of 3D software – ArchiCAD. Nevertheless, it was not enough for me to stay and I decided to move.
As for the projects I was involved at a AПМ-6, I would mentione participation in competition for the sculpture praising the work of coal miners, development of detailed design drawings for the reconstruction of the hotel. Back then it was mostly 2D drafting. I am grateful to Alexander Brichev for his mentorship as an owner and Chief Architect of the workshop.
